Brazilian Scenario In The Global Context Of Corruption

At the end of January 2024, the Corruption Perception Index (“CPI”) for 2023 revealed a concerning drop for Brazil in its ranking. The country lost two points compared to the previous year and fell 10 positions in the ranking, settling at 104th place, a position below the global average.

The President of the Republic has sanctioned Bill No. 4,173/23, which amends the taxation rules for investments abroad and within the country.

On November 29, 2023, the Federal Senate Plenary approved, in the form of the report by Senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE), Bill ("PL") No. 4,173/23. This Bill, sanctioned by the President of the Republic on December 12, 2023, has been enacted as Law No. 14,754/23. It addresses new taxation rules for overseas investments and the advance payment of taxes on investments in Brazilian investment funds.
