On December, 2020 the International Organization of Securities Commissions (“IOSCO”) published the FR12/2020 report (“Report”), that identified many possible risks regarding investing in crypto-assets, including lack of market liquidity, volatility, partial or total loss of the invested amount, insufficient information disclosure and fraud.

According to IOSCO, crypto-assets carry risks that small investors may not fully comprehend, increasing the chance of loss when investing in these assets..

The Report provides guidance regarding the following topics: (i) development of educational content on crypto-assets; (ii) information to the public about unlicensed or fraudulent companies; (iii) using a variety of communication channels to inform investors; and (iv) forming partnerships to develop and disseminate educational materials.

In addition, the Report also offers materials that provides an overview of examples of investor, listing the various communication channels used in each jurisdiction by IOSCO members, including Brazil.

Brazilian investor shall be acquainted with the Report, in search of a better security level in the growing market of crypto investments.
